“…As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples.” ~ John 13:34-35

God has given us the greatest gift He could have possibly provided: Himself. This is how He loves us, and how He then calls us to love others. This is the core of what Jesus is talking about in regards to our spiritual development.

What is a Home Group?
A Home Group (HG) is a caring community of 8 to 14 people who, as a response to the love of Christ, are committed to loving and encouraging each other. This generally takes place in a home, but some meet at the church.

The purpose of the HG is to allow the Holy Spirit to transform us into the likeness of Jesus Christ. The HG experience is centered on three elements: Scripture study and discussion, friendship and relational connecting, and prayer and encouragement. The HG meets once a week for two hours, and has an annual evaluation to decide upon continuance.

Why Home Groups?
Home groups were immediately formed in the church after Jesus ascended. Acts 2:42-47 is the model of our ministry. Many find that in an age of increasing depersonalization, home groups are ideal environments for cultivating long-term relationships, and for experiencing God in community.

Who Can Join A Group?
You can! We welcome you, your friends and your family. Church membership is not an issue. Home groups are open to all who are interested in fellowship with West End Presbyterian Church.

How Can I be in a Home Group?
Complete the online enrollment form or pick up a brochure at church and drop it in the collection plate or seal, stamp and mail it. If you know of an existing group you wish to join, or to inquire more, contact Mary McWhorter in the church office @ 741-6562 extension 11.

Who Can Lead a Group?
Members and attenders who have been through WEPC’s HG leader training course can lead a group.

When do Home Groups Begin?
Enrollment occurs twice a year: January and early September. Groups generally meet weekly September through May and break at the holidays. Some groups meet monthly in the summer. You may be placed in either an on-going group or in a newly formed group.
