February LIBRARY SPOTLIGHT
by Sarah Shrader

This month I chose to highlight a few books with the theme of love because of Valentine’s Day, of course, but also because I have been encouraged by our sermon series to think more about hesed - God’s unconditional, covenant keeping, compassionate, merciful love for us.
As I considered the meaning of hesed, I thought about Psalm 139 and how God made each of us, knows everything about us, and lovingly pursues us. Known and Loved by Glenna Marshall is a beautiful exposition of Psalm 139. This book is a wonderful reminder that we are seen by our heavenly Father, and He truly loves us.
We have seen in the book of Ruth and felt in our own lives how hard it is to love. Paul Miller’s A Loving Life uses Ruth’s story as the foundation for explaining hesed and showing how God’s love transforms our hearts and brings hope and healing to broken relationships.

S. D. Smith’s Green Ember series is one of the best examples of steadfast, loyal, transformational love. I read this series aloud to our family a few years ago, and I was inspired by the love and devotion shown by the main characters, each in their own way. The story is engaging (my kids kept asking for one more chapter), and it provides so many opportunities for family discussions. We have the whole original series in the library, as well as most of the side stories.
Lastly, I want to highlight a wonderful interview with Keith McCurdy about how to “order the loves”. Keith explains how our loves often become disordered, especially as our family lives get busier, and he provides practical ideas for reorienting ourselves.
This month’s spotlight books are on display in the library along with a few books to help as you prepare for Lent and Easter. As always, if you have questions or would like more recommendations, reach out to me at .

children's worship

During 10:30 AM Worship Service (dismissed to room 121 before the sermon)
4 Year Olds-2nd Graders
What is children's worship? Our desire is for our Covenant Children to become lifelong worshippers of the ONE TRUE KING. In Children's Worship, we aim to teach who we worship, why we worship, and how to worship.
What curriculum do we use? This Fall we will be using a curriculum called Kids Core: A Life of Worship, which uses hymns, spiritual songs, and the scripture behind them to teach about worship. The three songs we will focus on before Christmas are:
- Holy, Holy, Holy
- Come Thou Long Expected Jesus
- Joy to the World
Why don't we meet on the 1st Sunday of the month? We believe it is important for families to worship together. Our covenant children are a part of the body of Christ and we want them to feel welcome and participate in our worship services. We urge you to prioritize this time together. Please feel free to reach out if you want suggestions for how to make this a sweet time of worship together. Contact: Audrey

WEPC members, attenders, and visitors are encouraged to use this safe and welcoming space for children with special needs. Our hope is that this room will be a tool for families and CM volunteers to use to further the Gospel in the hearts of our covenant children.

Infant Nursery and Nursing Mothers' Room
We are so thankful for the growing number of babies in our congregation. Our Infant Nursery is open and will be staffed on Sunday mornings. There are a number of swings, bouncers, cribs, and toys to keep your baby happy during services.
We also have a Nursing Mothers' Room available for use at all times. It is next to the infant nursery, behind the nursery counter. Mothers, feel free to use this room. There are a number of gliders, a changing pad, and pack 'n plays, and you can listen in to the service while in there.

Preschoolers through Grade School
Children ages 4-10 have many chances to grow in the Gospel:
- Preschool Quest offers four- and five-year-olds music, crafts, creative storytelling, and much more during Sunday services.
- Sunday School classes are offered every Sunday morning to teach children the content of our faith.
- During the school year, Wednesday evenings are time of fun and discipleship in small groups at Kids Club and 4.5 Connect (for 4th and 5th graders).
