5TH GRADE NEWS
We have some fun opportunities for our 5th Graders to help prepare them as they transition to Youth Group in May. On each 1st Sunday of the month, the 5th Graders will be picked up in their Sunday School classroom at 9:40 by Youth Staff to join in on youth group activities in the Fellowship Hall.
LIBRARY SPOTLIGHT: LENT
by Sarah Shrader
Happy March, church family! I noticed my crocuses blooming this week and was reminded of Isaiah 35 where “the desert shall rejoice and blossom like the crocus…and the ransomed of the LORD shall return and come to Zion with singing; and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads”. Hallelujah, come Lord Jesus!

Don’t be put off by the title of this book. Spiritual Depression by Martyn Lloyd-Jones is for anyone who wants to be, like Pastor Steve said this Sunday, an “apprentice of joy”. Dr. Lloyd-Jones was a physician in the 1920s who felt the call to be a pastor from 1927-1968. This book is a tender, pastoral exploration of the themes of joy and hope using Psalm 42 as the core text.
Repentance is more than turning away from sin; it’s also turning towards godliness. In Cultivating Spiritual Growth, Conrad Mbewe uses the first chapter of 2 Peter to encourage believers to faithfully pursue the virtues they are called to as children of God. If you aren’t familiar with Pastor Mbewe, you may enjoy getting to know him by listening to this interview where he talks about the five books he would take with him if he were stranded on a deserted island.
I know we’re putting snow in the rear view mirror, but this last book is a perfect read for children (or family read aloud) during Lent. Treasures of the Snow by Patricia St. John explores themes of anger, revenge, repentance, and restoration. The author’s writing style is descriptive and engaging, and she masterfully draws out Christian themes without feeling overly didactic.
This month’s spotlight books are on display in the library along with a few more books to encourage you throughout Lent and Easter. Next month, I will highlight a few books to complement the upcoming sermon series on Romans 8.
Tolle Lege!

children's worship

During 10:30 AM Worship Service (dismissed to room 121 before the sermon)
4 Year Olds-2nd Graders
What is children's worship? Our desire is for our Covenant Children to become lifelong worshippers of the ONE TRUE KING. In Children's Worship, we aim to teach who we worship, why we worship, and how to worship.
What curriculum do we use? This Fall we will be using a curriculum called Kids Core: A Life of Worship, which uses hymns, spiritual songs, and the scripture behind them to teach about worship. The three songs we will focus on before Christmas are:
- Holy, Holy, Holy
- Come Thou Long Expected Jesus
- Joy to the World
Why don't we meet on the 1st Sunday of the month? We believe it is important for families to worship together. Our covenant children are a part of the body of Christ and we want them to feel welcome and participate in our worship services. We urge you to prioritize this time together. Please feel free to reach out if you want suggestions for how to make this a sweet time of worship together. Contact: Audrey

Infant Nursery and Nursing Mothers' Room
We are so thankful for the growing number of babies in our congregation. Our Infant Nursery is open and will be staffed on Sunday mornings. There are a number of swings, bouncers, cribs, and toys to keep your baby happy during services.
We also have a Nursing Mothers' Room available for use at all times. It is next to the infant nursery, behind the nursery counter. Mothers, feel free to use this room. There are a number of gliders, a changing pad, and pack 'n plays, and you can listen in to the service while in there.

Preschoolers through Grade School
Children ages 4-10 have many chances to grow in the Gospel:
- Preschool Quest offers four- and five-year-olds music, crafts, creative storytelling, and much more during Sunday services.
- Sunday School classes are offered every Sunday morning to teach children the content of our faith.
- During the school year, Wednesday evenings are time of fun and discipleship in small groups at Kids Club and 4.5 Connect (for 4th and 5th graders).
